Rocky Mountain Power/Questar Rebate

Just wanted to make sure you have the information on this great program being offered through the utility companies.

THERMWISE® WEATHERIZATION (For Existing Homes Only) On March 31, 2009, the Utah Public Service Commission approved an order reducing the rebate amounts available for insulation measures as follows:
Attic Insulation rebate changes from $0.35 to $0.20 per square foot;
Floor Insulation rebate changes from $0.35 to $0.20 per square foot;
Wall Insulation rebate changes from $0.45 to $0.30 per square foot;

These changes to the rebates will be effective starting May 2, 2009. Eligible customers with insulation installations completed on or before May 1, 2009, must submit a completed rebate application no later than June 30, 2009, to be eligible for a rebate equal to the original insulation rebate levels. Installations completed on or after May 2, 2009, are eligible for the revised rebate levels. Additionally, insulation installations completed on or before May 1, 2009, but submitted after June 30, 2009, will be subject to the revised rebate levels. Effective, January 1, 2009, the provision available in the ThermWise rebate programs which allowed the rebate check to be assigned to a 3rd party was eliminated. Rebate checks will only be made payable to the Questar Gas customer on record (applicant).

Weatherization,--Requirements,--Rebate
Windows ---Value of 0.35 or lower ---$0.95 per square foot
Wall Insulation ---Increments of R-11 or higher ---$0.45 per square foot
Attic/Floor Insulation ---Increments of R-19 or higher--- $.35 per square foot
Duct Sealing* ---Professional install to PTCS level ---$225
Duct Insulation* ---Professional install to R-6 or higher ---$250*

*Duct Sealing and Duct Insulation must be installed by a Questar Gas-approved contractor.

To apply for the rebate, http://www.thermwise.com/home/Weatherization_Application_09.pdf

How do you qualify?
Most homes that were built prior to 1980 that have not added additional insulation since the home was built would qualify for the Questar rebate. The same criteria is true for Rocky Mountain Power with the additional requirement of having central-air installed in the home. And of course you have to be able to access the attic to add the insulation.

For more info through Rocky Mountain Power, check out
http://www.homeenergysavings.net/utah/home_improvement.html

Not only can you get a great rebate, but there may also be a tax credit available to you for making your home be more energy efficient! Check with your tax consultant.

Let us know if you need a referral for a contractor. We'd be happy to send you one.
